More than 1600 diagrams , 175 tunings !

(Pinned post ) IMPORTANT :

For those of you who are familiar with cent values in several temperaments, please use the diagram called «Minor cent» in the beginning.

Here you will find cent values for fifths, major thirds and minor thirds within the same graph.

The red vectors is deviation from pure major third and blue vectors for minor third.

In the other diagrams I am using TU, but simply divide values by 30 to get a precise enough cent value.

Pythagorean comma = 23.46 cents = 720 TU

Syntonic comma = 21.51 cents = 660 TU.

(These numbers are easy to divide in 2,3,4,5,6...)

.................
The easiest way to get an overview of historical and newer tunings ! Read the Introduction (1) carefully and the diagrams will tell you much more than all the cent tables on the web.
Many of those who have found the key to the diagrams use this webside a lot.

VI LibreOffice and experimenting with graphs

This applies to the use of LibreOffice (free program)
It is not the program I use in the diagrams.
The graphs corresponding to the «Main diagram» but without vectors and note name at the top graph.

In B20, inclusive B31 = you can put into cents values , eg found on the web.
To avoid having to upload them into the spreedsheet every time, I've created a file for each tuning.
I would recommend to download all the files to your hard drive, then it's faster to retrieve them to LibreOffice when you want it.

If you will move one tone ,enter a TU-value in a cell B1-B12 and you see that the graphs changed.
NB! Then  is the right TU-values only in the D1-D12 !!

From C1, inclusive C12 you can put TU values.
NB 1! Then you can no longer use the B20-B31 (cents-values)
NB 2! The spreadsheet is correct only if it is -720 TU (Pythagorean comma) it will show in E13 !!!!!!!!!!!

If you have too much or too little so says the difference in E14.

If we follow C major in 7th row the cells are showing this:
E7 (green) deviation from the pure fifth C-G in a C major triad.
J7 (red) shows deviation frm the major pure third C-E in the triad
K7 (blue) shows the deviation of the pure minor third: E-G

When you are satisfied with your tuning you will see the cents values in M20-M31
which you can then load into an app and tune your instrument

Standard Deviation are AE17 (sum AF17 + AG17)

AF17 (SD fifths), AG17 (SD thirds )
